At Redstone Bank, we pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with businesses that make a real difference in our communities. One such business is TACT: Teaching the Autism Community Trades, a non-profit that has become a beacon of hope and opportunity for individuals with autism and neurodiverse backgrounds. In this blog, we’re highlighting their incredible journey, their impact, and our partnership in supporting their mission.

TACT: A Mission to Empower the Neurodiverse Community

Founded in 2016 by Danny Combs, TACT focuses on supporting the autism and neurodiversity communities by offering training and employment opportunities. From humble beginnings in the back of a 1958 Chevy panel truck, TACT has grown into a 19,000-square-foot facility in Denver, Colorado, serving thousands of clients. What sets TACT apart is its commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and employment. Their mission is clear: to make a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve by equipping them with the skills and confidence to thrive in the workforce.

TACT’s mission emphasizes inclusion, integrity, respect, grace, discipline, and empowerment—values that guide its everyday operations and impact.

What Makes TACT Unique

One striking statistic is that the autism community has the highest unemployment rate of any demographic, with Colorado’s unemployment rate for this group at 12%. TACT is addressing this issue head-on with an impressive 83.3% job placement rate for their clients into integrated supported employment.

According to Danny, “TACT stands out as the only program in the United States using skilled trades as a vessel for developing employment skills specifically for the autism community. Our work has received national recognition for the innovative and lasting change we drive.”

Longevity and Growth in a Challenging Market

Despite the challenges that many non-profits face, TACT has continued to thrive in its mission. The need for autism- and neurodiversity-focused training and employment services is high, and TACT’s strong partnerships with industry leaders have been key to its continued success. These partners understand the value of the neurodiverse community, and together, they have built a lasting impact in Denver and beyond.

When asked what he loves most about owning a business, Danny highlighted the fulfillment of making a real, tangible difference. “Our non-profit is breaking down barriers and showcasing the power of what’s possible,” he explained. Starting from a small truck and growing into a significant, impactful organization is a testament to TACT’s determination and the overwhelming need they’re addressing.

What’s Next for TACT?

Looking toward the future, TACT has big plans for expansion. The goal is to open TACT facilities not just across Colorado but throughout the United States, spreading the mission and making an even greater impact. Their determination to grow and scale their services speaks volumes about the critical need for organizations like theirs, and they are well on their way to achieving these goals.

The people are what keep us coming back. They go above and beyond; they laugh, joke, and develop relationships with us. Business is built on relationships.
